Friday's 3:00 PM 4-Stop Brewery Tour

Description:

Touring/Sampling: Catawba, French Broad River, Hi-Wire and Wedge Brewery.

This tour meets in Pack Square at the Zebulon Vance Memorial, which is in the heart of downtown Asheville at the intersection of Patton Avenue and Biltmore Avenue, at 3:00 PM. From there it is a short ride to the South Slope and our first stop Catawba Brewing. Since 1999, Catawba has produced exceptional flagship styles such as their White Zombie Wit Beer and seasonals like the Peanut Butter Jelly Time. With a variety of ales on tap everyday, it's easy to see why Catawba appeals to all beer drinkers. Next, we head into the Historic Biltmore Village to French Broad River Brewery. With year round favorites such as the German influenced Gateway Kolsch, English 13 Rebels ESB, American West Coast IPA and the Wee Heavy-Er Scottish Ale, it's no wonder why French Broad River's motto is "World Beer, Asheville Flavor." After French Broad River Brewery we will head to tour Hi-Wire's large scale production brewhouse known as the Big Top. This circus themed brewery makes a true year round lager as well as a large variety of ales such as the Hi-Pitch IPA. Hi-Wire has a bottling line and conveniently packages their beer in 6 packs for wide distribution. Our last stop is the Wedge Brewery which was established in 2008 in Asheville's River Arts District. The Wedge specializes in small batch brews and does not distribute their beer. Quite simply, what is brewed at the Wedge is drank at the Wedge. They quickly became a local favorite with styles such as the Iron Rail IPA combined with their relaxed artsy atmosphere. After our 4 stops we drop off back downtown at the Vance where you'll find the rest of Beer City at your fingertips!
